Waterborne germs can live and grow in our pipes and in devices that use water. Even when the public water system is working correctly, a small number of germs that naturally occur in the environment can still be in the water. These germs can grow and multiply in the plumbing inside a home or building if the conditions are right.

RainStick’s cleaning process improves your water hygiene through the use of UV treatment and real-time refreshment, as well as automatic self-cleaning after every shower session using RainStick’s Original Cleaning Product. This process addresses 99.99% of bacteria and viruses, including even the most harmful of bacteria like Legionella.

RainStick Original Cleaning Product
The RainStick Original Cleaning Product is a human-safe and plant-safe agent that is automatically dispensed in between showering sessions. This specially formulated cleaner prevents limescale build up while maintaining the utmost hygiene due to its carefully formulated ingredients. It is PH-balanced, sustainable and extremely effective.

After every shower, your RainStick dispenses a small amount of the Original Cleaning Product. This works to continuously break down limescale and displace bacteria that may have gotten into the shower, helping to keep your water hygienic long after cleaning and ensuring there is no transfer of bacteria between users.
Set it & forget it
With the RainStick Smart Phone App, you control when the automated cleaning cycle begins after your shower. Simply set the timer to start the cycle 45 - 90 seconds after you step out—then let RainStick take care of the rest.
Automated cleaning
Add 20 drops of RainStick Original Cleaning Solution A and fill the reservoir with water using the foot spout feature. This will keep your shower fresh, clean and hygienic for up to a month on average.
Low maintanence
After 1 month, you’ll receive a reminder on the RainStick app to run a deep clean. Add the soution B cleaning solution, let it run for 10 minutes, then refill with Solution A to maintain automated cleaning sessions.
UV-LED treatment
RainStick has a highly effective and durable UV-LED that provides a continual dosage of up to 30 mJ/cm2. Because every drop of water is used up to six times before going down the drain, the water is quickly recycled and treated multiple times.
As you shower, the RainStick continuously adds a small amount of fresh hot water whilst passively draining a small amount of shower water. The soap you use (e.g. shampoo, body soap, conditioner) will also naturally bind with any bacteria, resulting in real time refreshment of the loop and bacteria removal.
Micron screen
RainStick is equipped with a 200 micron filter that removes anything larger than a grain of sand. Hair, grit and other dirt particles are trapped in the mesh screen as the first step in RainStick’s cleaning process. This filter can be easily removed and cleaned through manually removing the dirt or rinsing under the tap, similar to standard drain catchments.

Do I have to use WIFI to use RainStick?
No, while WiFi is not required to use our smart shower, we do recommend connecting your RainStick Shower to WiFi in order to take advantage of the many features available on the RainStick Shower App such as:
- Remote software updates
- Customizable settings (water temperature, shower mode, deep clean timer)
- Performance tracking
- Water and Energy Savings Tracking
- Deep cleaning reminders and scheduling
Does RainStick heat the water as it is circulated?
It doesn’t need to! Once the RainStick Shower reaches the set temperature and enters recirculation mode, it will continuously add a small amount of fresh hot water to the loop of recirculated water. This maintains the desired water temperature and ensures a hot shower without having to reheat the circulated water. The additional water also helps to refresh the cycle and dilute soap and shampoo.
Not only is the RainStick Shower saving up to 80% water but it is also saving up to 80% energy because it does not need to heat as much water as a traditional shower.

Does RainStick use grey water? Am I using someone else's water?
RainStick is not a greywater system and you will never be using someone else’s water! RainStick only uses fresh supplied water at the start of each shower and no water is stored in between uses. At the end of each shower, an automated cleaning session starts to guarantee that each new use is hygienic. This also prevents hard water from forming and keeps the built-in UV LED optimized.
A timer for when this cleaning session starts can be scheduled on the RainStick Shower App with 45, 60, or 90-second delay start time options.
