Project Impact
Bowen Island, known for its lush landscapes and abundant rainfall, faces water availability challenges: while the region receives a substantial amount of rainfall annually (1.5-1.8 meters), much of it occurs during the winter months and quickly runs off to the sea. Consequently, the island struggles with water shortages during the dry summer season, posing a significant challenge for residents.

Benefit to Client
In response to this challenge, the Island Home opted to implement the RainStick Shower as a sustainable solution to water conservation. With each RainStick Shower capable of saving 11,400 gallons of water per home annually, the homeowners saw an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on their water usage. By utilizing only half a gallon of water per minute, the RainStick Shower drastically reduces water consumption compared to standard showers, which typically use 1.8 to 2.5 gallons per minute. This not only helps alleviate water shortages on Bowen Island but also contributes to the homeowners' efforts to lead a more environmentally conscious lifestyle.
The installation of the RainStick Shower at Island Home signifies a shift towards sustainable living practices, where innovation meets environmental responsibility. As the Island Home continues to set an example for eco-conscious living, the integration of solutions like the RainStick Shower serves as a testament to their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of Bowen Island for generations to come.
